Immunity & ageing : I & A

Removing aging immune cells helps clear old damaged cells

Updated

Abstract

Essence

This review argues that age-related immune decline may let senescent cells accumulate and worsen age-related disease.

Evidence

The evidence is a review of how senescent cells interact with immune cells, how impairs senescent-cell clearance, and strategies to promote immune-mediated clearance.

Caveat

Because it is a review of mechanisms and therapeutic concepts, it does not provide direct trial evidence that targeting immunosenescence clears senescent cells or improves disease outcomes.
