Time-Restricted Eating and Its Effects on Weight Loss and Metabolism in Overweight Women and Men

Abstract

Participants in the time-restricted eating group experienced a significant weight loss of 0.94 kg over 12 weeks.

  • Weight loss was observed in the time-restricted eating (TRE) group, while the consistent meal timing (CMT) group showed no significant change.
  • In the in-person cohort, the TRE group lost an average of 1.70 kg, indicating a notable effect within this subgroup.
  • A significant difference in appendicular lean mass index was found between the TRE and CMT groups.
  • No significant changes were observed in fasting insulin, fasting glucose, hemoglobin A1c levels, or energy expenditure metrics.
