Updated

Abstract

By month 6, body weight decreased significantly in the time-restricted eating group by 3.56% compared to controls.

  • Participants in the time-restricted eating (TRE) group adhered to their eating window on average 6.1 days per week.
  • The mean reduction in energy intake was -313 kcal/day for the TRE group, compared to -197 kcal/day for the calorie restriction (CR) group.
  • Levels of hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) decreased in both the TRE (-0.91%) and CR (-0.94%) groups compared to controls, with no significant difference between the two diets.
  • No serious adverse events were reported during the trial.
  • Weight loss was not significant in the CR group, which decreased by only -1.78% relative to controls.
