Low drop-out rates for tirzepatide treatment in Japanese diabetes patients linked to traditional Japanese diet

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Tirzepatide discontinuation was unusually low in a Japanese diabetes cohort, possibly because patients shifted away from high-fat, high-calorie foods while maintaining traditional low-carbohydrate foods.

Evidence

This was a real-world study of 219 Japanese patients with diabetes using discontinuation rates and dietary questionnaires after tirzepatide treatment.

Caveat

The dietary explanation is associative and the abstract does not describe a randomized comparator or enough detail to separate diet from other population or care factors.
