Comparing Tirzepatide and SGLT2 Inhibitors in People with Fatty Liver Disease

Abstract

In a cohort of 23,106 patients, TZP was associated with a significantly lower risk of adverse health outcomes compared to SGLT2i.

  • TZP use was linked to a 28% reduced risk of a composite outcome of all-cause mortality, major adverse cardiovascular events, and major adverse liver outcomes.
  • All-cause mortality risk was 45% lower in patients using TZP compared to those on SGLT2i.
  • TZP was associated with a 32% lower risk of major adverse cardiovascular events.
  • The risk of major adverse liver outcomes was reduced by 34% in patients treated with TZP.
  • These associations held true across different age, sex, BMI, and comorbidity groups.
