Tirzepatide compared to GLP-1 drugs in slowing heart, kidney, and metabolism problems in real patients

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Tirzepatide initiation was linked to lower one-year CKM stage progression than other GLP-1 receptor agonists in early-stage CKM syndrome.

Evidence

This retrospective real-world new-user cohort study used TriNetX data with 1:1 propensity matching of 448,591 tirzepatide users and 448,591 GLP-1 RA users, finding CKM stage 3-4 progression in 2.2% versus 3.3% (HR 0.88).

Caveat

Despite matching, the comparison is observational and limited to one-year follow-up, so residual confounding and longer-term clinical impact remain uncertain.
