Ultraprocessed Food Intake and Behavior in Canadian Children

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Higher ultraprocessed food intake at age 3 was associated with more adverse behavioral and emotional symptoms at age 5 in Canadian children.

Evidence

This prospective cohort analysis of 2,077 CHILD Cohort Study participants used food-frequency questionnaires, NOVA categories, CBCL scores, multivariable regression, and substitution modeling.

Caveat

The associations are observational, with UPF intake measured by questionnaire and substitution effects estimated statistically rather than tested by dietary intervention.
