Blood Vessel and Heart Function in Type 2 Diabetes Patients with Stroke Treated with Dulaglutide or Empagliflozin

Abstract

After 12 months of treatment, all patients had reduced glycosylated hemoglobin and body mass index (BMI).

  • Patients treated with dulaglutide experienced a greater reduction in BMI (-11.8%) compared to those treated with empagliflozin (-4.8%).
  • Both treatment groups showed reduced perfused boundary region (PBR), pulse wave velocity (PWV), and left ventricular global longitudinal strain (GLS) after 12 months.
  • Empagliflozin resulted in a greater decrease in PWV (-14%) compared to dulaglutide (-10.9%).
  • Dulaglutide led to a greater increase in GLS (14.7%) compared to empagliflozin (8.3%).
  • A decrease in PBR was correlated with a decrease in PWV and an increase in GLS in all patients.
