Using Wearable AI Devices to Detect Sleep Disorders: A Review

Out of 615 articles reviewed, 46 studies focused on AI-powered wearable devices for sleep disorders.

  • The majority of the selected studies concentrated on sleep apnea.
  • Wearable AI technology was commonly used for diagnosing and screening sleep disorders, but none were utilized for treatment.
  • Commercial devices were featured in 30 out of 46 studies, indicating a preference for widely available technology.
  • Respiratory data was the primary input for model development in 54% of the studies, followed by heart rate and body movement.
  • The most frequently used AI algorithm was the convolutional neural network, appearing in 37% of the studies.
