WGX-50 may support healthy aging in roundworms through computer and lab studies

Updated

Abstract

WGX-50, derived from Sichuan pepper, is reported to promote healthy aging in Caenorhabditis elegans.

  • WGX-50 is associated with increased longevity through the activation of specific genes, including daf-16 and skn-1.
  • Inhibition of insulin signaling is linked to WGX-50's effects by downregulating daf-2 and activating pro-longevity pathways.
  • Supplementation with WGX-50 significantly reduces the accumulation of age-related substances such as lipofuscin and reactive oxygen species.
  • In models of progeria and naturally aged mice, WGX-50 does not induce aging or increase levels of senescent genes.
  • No adverse effects on organ health or blood parameters were observed with WGX-50 treatment.
