Treatment with 20(S/R)-ginsenoside Rh1 (60 mg/kg/day) for 4 weeks significantly improved glucose and lipid metabolism in a type 2 diabetes mouse model.

  • Accumulation of tauro-β-muricholic acid and lithocholic acid in the ileum was noted, influencing signaling pathways.
  • Inhibition of the farnesoid X receptor and activation of Takeda G protein-coupled receptor 5 were observed.
  • These changes may enhance proglucagon and prohormone convertase 1 expression, leading to increased GLP-1 secretion.
