Updated

Abstract

A history of gestational diabetes mellitus is associated with a 2.26 times higher odds of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in postmenopausal women.

  • High birthweight infants are linked to a 1.30 times increased likelihood of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are associated with a 1.18 times greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • Preterm birth and low birthweight do not show a significant association with type 2 diabetes mellitus risk.
  • Women with a history of two or more adverse pregnancy outcomes have 1.55 times higher odds of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • Those with both gestational diabetes mellitus and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy face a 3.69 times increased risk compared to women without any adverse outcomes.
