Updated
Abstract
In a sample of 110 adults, evening chronotypes exhibited higher BMI and body weight compared to morning types.
- Evening types had significantly greater body weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, and total fat mass.
- Positive correlations were observed between sleep duration and body mass index, total fat mass, and fat percentage.
- Evening chronotypes were more likely to skip breakfast and had higher energy intake from dinners and snacks.
- Dietary intake in evening types included greater amounts of lipids, carbohydrates, sodium, and saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids.
- Chronotype characteristics may influence both body composition and dietary habits.
