Heart and blood pressure treatments linked to survival and major heart problems in thoracic aortic aneurysm

Updated

Abstract

The study included 162,126 patients with thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA).

  • Use of RAAS inhibitors was associated with higher overall survival at 60 months (88.3% vs. 85.5%).
  • GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy was linked to significantly higher overall survival (97.5% vs. 92.5%).
  • SGLT2 inhibitor therapy corresponded with improved overall survival (89.8% vs. 81.5%).
  • Combination therapy with RAAS inhibitors plus GLP-1 RAs or SGLT2 inhibitors showed greater survival benefits compared to monotherapy.
  • All findings suggest the potential for integrated therapies to improve outcomes in TAA but should not be interpreted as definitive proof of treatment effectiveness.
