  • Altered brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels link changes in brain plasticity to increased pain sensitivity.
  • Common brain network dysfunctions in areas like the prefrontal and limbic systems may underlie the relationship between emotional and physical symptoms.
  • Psychological and social factors, including negative thought patterns and lack of support, may worsen symptoms of both conditions.
  • Certain antidepressants and novel treatments may provide better pain relief and improve mood compared to standard therapies.
