Measuring the amount of leftover DNA in mRNA vaccines

Updated

Abstract

DNA:RNA mass ratios in mRNA vaccine vials were confirmed at 1:1000.

  • The concentration of product-related DNA impurities in mRNA vaccines aligns with approved specifications.
  • Claims of DNA impurities exceeding permissible levels by up to 534-fold are not supported by this data.
  • Results were obtained using various methods, including Qubit quantitation and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.
  • High RNA and lipid concentrations may have influenced previous findings regarding DNA impurity levels.
