Effectiveness and Safety of Once-Weekly IcoSema in Adults with Type 2 Diabetes

Updated

Abstract

IcoSema was associated with a 0.39% greater reduction in HbA1c compared to the control group.

  • More subjects achieved HbA1c levels below 7.0% with IcoSema compared to controls (risk ratio 1.54).
  • IcoSema resulted in a lower risk of clinically significant hypoglycemia but did not reduce severe hypoglycemia.
  • Both IcoSema and the control group showed similar changes in body weight, fasting plasma glucose, waist circumference, and blood pressure.
  • IcoSema increased the overall risk of total adverse events, but rates of severe, serious, and cardiovascular adverse events were comparable to controls.
  • IcoSema was well-tolerated, with no increase in gastrointestinal adverse events, retinopathy, or infections, but it did increase the risk of headaches and reduced appetite.
