Effectiveness and safety of a new semaglutide injection compared to the standard version in Indian patients with type 2 diabetes

Abstract

HbA1c decreased from 8.36% to 6.81% in the test group after 24 weeks of treatment.

  • The novel semaglutide injection met the pre-specified non-inferiority margin compared to the reference product.
  • Body weight decreased by -4.59 kg in the test group and -4.42 kg in the comparator group.
  • Reductions in fasting plasma glucose were -37.5 mg/dL for the test group and -39.0 mg/dL for the comparator group.
  • Treatment-emergent adverse events were reported in 58.6% of the test group and 61.8% of the comparator group, mostly mild.
  • Hypoglycaemia was infrequent, occurring in 1.9% of the test group and 0% of the comparator group.
