Improved liver healing by delivering mRNA to partly reprogram cells inside the body

Updated

Abstract

Transient OSKM mRNA delivery generates two distinct liver progenitor-like cell populations.

  • In vivo partial reprogramming using Yamanaka factors produces liver progenitor-like cells without injury.
  • One population of liver progenitor-like cells closely resembles those formed after liver injury.
  • The application of OSKM mRNA is associated with enhanced liver regeneration following acetaminophen-induced injury.
  • Limited immune response activation occurs with the transient induction of liver progenitor-like cells.
