Morning and evening preferences in college students with depression
Updated
Abstract
Among 1617 students identified as 'depressives', evening types were significantly more prevalent than morning types.
- Significant negative correlations were observed between eveningness-morningness scores and depression scale scores (BDI r= -.174, GDS-SF r= -.182, CESD r = -.176, all p < .001).
- The incidence of evening types was significantly higher than that of morning types among depressive students (chi2 = 11.18, p < .01).
- These findings suggest a potential relationship between eveningness and higher levels of depression in this population.
- Generalizability of results to clinical populations remains uncertain.
