Fasting gut hormone levels after long-term recovery from Anorexia Nervosa

Updated

Abstract

Elevated levels of gastric inhibitory peptide (GIP) in anorexia nervosa may normalize after short-term weight restoration.

  • GLP-1 and glicentin levels do not change during the acute state of anorexia nervosa but decrease after short-term weight restoration.
  • The relationship between these hormone levels and the state of underweight in anorexia nervosa is not fully understood.
  • Long-term recovery effects on these hormone levels have not been extensively studied.
  • There is potential for GIP to serve as a marker for the acute state of anorexia nervosa.
