GLP-1 Drugs and Heart Risk Indicators in U.S. Adults from 2011 to 2018

Updated

Abstract

Among 16,744 participants, GLP-1 users had significantly lower systolic blood pressure (β = -5.44, p<0.05) compared to non-users.

  • GLP-1 receptor agonist use is associated with lower systolic blood pressure in U.S. adults with overweight or obesity.
  • No significant differences were found in total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, or hemoglobin A1c between GLP-1 users and non-users.
  • Age, BMI, insurance status, and diabetes diagnosis were significant factors influencing cardiovascular risk markers.
