GLP-1 receptor agonists for fatty liver disease linked to metabolic problems: plan for a review of clinical trials

Updated

Abstract

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a major global chronic liver disease without approved pharmacotherapy.

  • Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) may provide metabolic benefits.
  • The efficacy of GLP-1 RAs on histological endpoints in MASH is not yet established.
  • There is a need for definitive synthesis of data regarding GLP-1 RAs in MASH treatment.
