Abstract
Retrospective evidence suggests that glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) may be linked to retained gastric contents after fasting.
- Patients taking GLP-1 RAs may have higher rates of retained gastric contents compared to those not taking these medications.
- Retained gastric contents could increase the risk of aspiration during procedures requiring fasting.
- The study aims to compare the incidence of retained gastric contents during upper endoscopy between patients on GLP-1 RAs and those not on these medications.
