Measuring tryptamine levels in mushroom extracts using a chemical analysis method

Updated

Abstract

A total tryptamine content of 0.01 % to 0.73 % was found in 19 fungal samples from the Antioquia region of Colombia.

  • A high-performance liquid chromatography method was developed for analyzing tryptamines in mushrooms.
  • The method demonstrated suitable validation parameters including selectivity, linearity, precision, and robustness.
  • Chromatographic conditions were established using a specific column and mobile phase gradient for effective separation.
  • The study aims to assess the tryptamine content in fungi marketed as Psilocybes in Colombia.
