ALKBH5 reduces cell recycling in prostate cancer by blocking m6A changes on TSPAN1 RNA

Updated

Abstract

TSPAN1 was significantly downregulated in prostate cancer cells (p < 0.001).

  • Overexpression of TSPAN1 inhibited cell viability and the number of proliferating cells in prostate cancer cell lines.
  • TSPAN1 overexpression decreased the ratio of a specific protein involved in autophagy, while increasing another protein associated with autophagy accumulation.
  • The m6A modification level of ALKBH5 was high in certain prostate cancer cells but was reduced by TSPAN1 overexpression.
  • ALKBH5 overexpression promoted cell viability and proliferation while reversing the effects of TSPAN1 overexpression.
