Links Between the 8 Key Healthy Habits and Chronic Kidney Disease

Updated

Abstract

Among 24,960 participants, 14.11% were found to have chronic kidney disease (CKD).

  • Higher scores on Life's Essential 8 (LE8) are linked to reduced odds of CKD, with an odds ratio of 0.79 for each 10-point increase.
  • A nonlinear relationship exists between LE8 scores and CKD prevalence.
  • Increased blood glucose and blood pressure scores within the LE8 framework are associated with a lower prevalence of CKD, with odds ratios of 0.88 and 0.92 for each 10-point increase, respectively.
  • The association between LE8 scores and CKD is notably stronger in middle-aged, male, and coupled individuals.
