The µMCTQ: A Very Short Version of the Munich ChronoType Questionnaire

Updated

Abstract

The µMCTQ, a shortened version of the Munich ChronoType Questionnaire, reduces the number of questions from 17 to 6 for assessing chronotype.

  • The µMCTQ provides a quick assessment of chronotype, social jetlag, and sleep duration.
  • Results from the µMCTQ correspond well with those from the standard MCTQ and are validated by actimetry and melatonin measurements.
  • Sleep timing indicators from the µMCTQ showed slight deviations of less than 35 minutes compared to the standard MCTQ.
  • The µMCTQ demonstrated good test-retest reliability and significant correlation with phase markers from actimetry and melatonin, particularly on work-free days.
  • The brevity of the µMCTQ makes it suitable for large cohort studies and personalized medicine applications.
