Evaluating how well current methods measure people's natural daily activity patterns

Updated

Abstract

The reliability of the Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ), Composite Scale of Morningness (CSM), and Preferences Scale (PS) is greater than 0.80.

  • The MEQ, CSM, and PS demonstrate high reliability, while the reduced Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (rMEQ) shows satisfactory reliability.
  • These scales maintain stability over follow-up periods of up to 13 months.
  • The Munich ChronoType Questionnaire (MCTQ) cannot be assessed for reliability as it is not a traditional scale.
  • The MEQ, rMEQ, and CSM show strong correlations, indicating shared items among these assessments.
  • The agreement between the MCTQ and MEQ decreases when more corrections are applied to the MCTQ.
  • Current literature lacks sufficient studies on the predictive validity of circadian typology instruments.
