Quick one-step CRISPR test to visually detect flu A, flu B, and respiratory syncytial viruses

Updated

Abstract

Detection of Influenza A Virus, Influenza B Virus, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus can be achieved in 30 minutes using a multiplex CRISPR/Dx detection system.

  • The system detects as few as 10 copies per µL of Influenza A and B viruses and 8 copies per µL of Respiratory Syncytial Virus.
  • No cross-reactivity was observed between the three respiratory viruses tested.
  • The detection occurs at a constant temperature of 40 °C, simplifying the testing process.
  • Visual fluorescence readout is possible without the need for specialized equipment.
  • This method offers a quicker and more streamlined workflow compared to traditional RT-qPCR and other detection approaches.
