Combining two DNA techniques for highly sensitive detection of Mycoplasma bovis

Updated

Abstract

The new diagnostic platform achieves an analytical limit of detection of approximately 8 copies of Mycoplasma bovis.

  • An isothermal diagnostic method combines Recombinase Polymerase Amplification with CRISPR-Cas12a detection.
  • The assay can be conducted in less than 1 hour at temperatures between 37°C and 39°C.
  • Clinical validation showed 100% agreement with established PCR methods across 110 samples from bison and cattle.
  • The platform successfully differentiates Mycoplasma bovis from closely related species, such as Mycoplasma canis and Mycoplasma felis.
  • This approach could facilitate rapid and reliable detection of Mycoplasma bovis in field settings.
