Unexpected Stomach Contents After Standard Fasting Despite Stopping Semaglutide: A Case Report

Updated

Abstract

Essence

A semaglutide-treated patient had substantial residual gastric contents despite standard fasting and withholding one weekly dose.

Evidence

Single case report describes a 58-year-old man whose elective upper endoscopy was canceled for residual gastric contents, although a prior procedure after the same dose hold showed none.

Caveat

One inconsistent case cannot estimate frequency, prove semaglutide causation, or show that a 24-hour liquid diet reliably prevents the problem.
