Resetting the Body’s Internal Clock by Breathing Low Oxygen in Humans: An Exploratory Study

Luminotherapy combined with melatonin resulted in a significant phase advance of approximately 78 minutes in circadian rhythms.

  • Both luminotherapy with melatonin and hypoxia conditions led to earlier melatonin onset compared to baseline measurements.
  • Exposure to reduced oxygen levels for 2 hours resulted in an average phase advance of approximately 35 minutes, which was not statistically significant.
