Abstract

Treatment with semaglutide (1.44 mg/kg) improved cognitive performance in diabetic rats.

  • Diabetic rats showed cognitive deficits, hyperglycemia, increased neuroinflammatory markers, and altered apoptosis-related biomarkers.
  • Treatment with semaglutide was associated with improved learning and memory performance.
  • Fasting blood glucose levels and body weight were significantly improved following semaglutide treatment.
  • Molecular analysis revealed lower levels of neuroinflammation and oxidative stress markers in semaglutide-treated rats compared to untreated diabetic rats.
  • Higher levels of anti-apoptotic proteins and antioxidants were observed in the brain tissue of rats treated with semaglutide.
