Testosterone levels linked to heart health in US adult men (2013-2016)

Updated

Abstract

Serum testosterone levels were strongly associated with Life's Essential 8 scores (β = 2.75, 95% CI: 1.92, 3.57, P < .0001).

  • Higher LE8 scores indicate better cardiovascular health.
  • High testosterone levels were linked to a significantly lower cardiovascular health risk (OR = 0.59, 95% CI: 0.49, 0.73, P < .001).
  • Normal testosterone levels reduced cardiovascular health risk compared to low levels (OR = 0.51, 95% CI: 0.38, 0.69, P < .001).
  • A positive linear correlation was observed between testosterone levels and LE8 scores.
  • A consistent linear negative correlation was found between testosterone levels and cardiovascular health risk.
