Mediterranean diet and lifestyle reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in obstructive sleep apnea patients

Updated

Abstract

Plasma high sensitivity C-reactive protein levels were significantly lower in the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle groups compared to standard care.

  • Participants receiving both a Mediterranean diet and lifestyle intervention showed improved inflammatory markers compared to those receiving standard care alone.
  • The Mediterranean lifestyle group had significantly reduced urinary 8-iso prostaglandin F2a levels compared to both the standard care and Mediterranean diet groups.
  • No changes in adiponectin and oxidized guanine levels were observed across any study groups.
  • Results were consistent in both intention to treat and per protocol analyses.
