How ALKBH5 enzyme alters FOXM1 mRNA to promote uveal melanoma growth
Updated
Abstract
ALKBH5 expression was significantly elevated in uveal melanoma (UM) cell lines and is associated with worse outcomes in patients.
- Downregulation of ALKBH5 inhibited tumor growth in UM cell lines.
- Increased ALKBH5 expression was linked to higher rates of UM cell proliferation, migration, and invasion.
- ALKBH5 may promote UM metastasis by inducing changes that enhance cell movement and survival.
- Activation of H3K27 acetylation by EP300 led to increased ALKBH5 expression.
- ALKBH5-induced demethylation of mRNA could facilitate UM progression.
