Tirzepatide use and health outcomes after heart valve replacement in obese patients

Updated

Abstract

Patients with obesity undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) are at elevated risk for recurrent heart failure and cardiorenal events.

  • Weight loss and metabolic improvement are associated with the use of tirzepatide.
  • The effectiveness of tirzepatide in reducing heart failure and cardiorenal events in post-TAVR patients is currently unknown.
  • Further research is needed to evaluate the potential benefits of tirzepatide in this high-risk population.
