Vitamin Intake and Stiffness of Central and Peripheral Arteries in People with Long COVID

Updated

Abstract

In a study of 304 patients with Long COVID, no significant associations were found between dietary vitamin intake and arterial stiffness after correcting for multiple comparisons.

  • Vitamin B1 intake showed an inverse relationship with central arterial stiffness measured by cfPWV, but this association was not significant after correction for multiple comparisons.
  • Vitamin B6 also displayed an inverse relationship with cfPWV, which did not survive the multiple comparison correction.
  • No significant associations were observed between dietary vitamin intake and peripheral arterial stiffness measured by baPWV.
  • The average participant age was 52.78 years, with 68.1% being women, and men were statistically older than women.
  • The study suggests the need for further research incorporating detailed nutritional and health data to clarify the relationship between vitamin intake and vascular health in Long COVID patients.
