Does education change how ethnicity relates to ideal heart health?

Updated

Abstract

Of 9056 participants, over half were Hispanic, and two-thirds had at least a college education.

  • Participants with less than a college education were less likely to achieve ideal status for most individual cardiovascular health metrics.
  • Hispanic participants generally had the highest proportions of optimal cardiovascular health scores and ideal metrics, while black participants had the lowest.
  • The study found no statistically significant interactions between education and ethnicity for ideal cardiovascular health measures.
  • Higher educational attainment showed variable associations with achieved levels of ideal cardiovascular health across different race/ethnic groups.
