Heart disease risk linked to being a morning or evening person in adults

Updated

Abstract

Individuals with an evening chronotype have a 29.8% higher risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).

  • The evening chronotype group showed a higher prevalence of obesity, with 64.4% having a body mass index (BMI) above reference ranges.
  • Fasting blood glucose levels above reference ranges were found in 18.3% of individuals with an evening chronotype.
  • 42.3% of the evening chronotype group had total cholesterol levels exceeding reference ranges.
  • 36.5% of individuals in the evening chronotype group had elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) levels.
  • These findings suggest an association between evening chronotype and increased risk factors for CVDs.
