Changes in food preferences after taking oral semaglutide in Japanese people with type 2 diabetes

Abstract

Oral semaglutide treatment led to a significant reduction in total energy intake and altered food preferences in Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes.

  • Total energy intake significantly decreased after 3 months of oral semaglutide treatment.
  • Carbohydrates were the most reduced nutrient among those assessed.
  • Cravings for sweet foods, chocolate, and starchy foods significantly declined.
  • Satisfaction at meals and the frequency and intensity of food cravings were notably lower.
  • Mean levels and body mass index () significantly decreased.
