Metabolic dysfunction is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) through obesity, type 2 diabetes, and insulin resistance.
- Metabolic dysfunction may contribute to the progression of liver diseases, including steatohepatitis, fibrosis, and cirrhosis, leading to HCC.
- There is a connection between metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and the development of HCC.
- GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) could potentially address several metabolic factors that influence the MASLD-HCC continuum.
- The relationship between GLP-1RAs and the progression from MASLD to HCC is currently not well understood.
