Abstract

GLP-1 receptor agonists may significantly improve liver conditions in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (), with up to 62.9% achieving resolution without worsening fibrosis.

  • Liraglutide increased steatohepatitis resolution without fibrosis worsening to 39%, compared to 9% with placebo.
  • Semaglutide demonstrated dose-dependent resolution of steatohepatitis, reaching up to 59% compared to 17% in Phase 2 trials.
  • In interim analyses, semaglutide 2.4 mg weekly met histologic endpoints, achieving 62.9% resolution without fibrosis worsening and 36.8% fibrosis improvement.
