Abstract
The effectiveness of GLP-1 receptor agonists compared to mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists in treating resistant hypertension in individuals with overweight or obesity is being evaluated.
- Resistant hypertension frequently occurs in individuals with overweight or obesity.
- Mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists are the recommended treatment for resistant hypertension.
- Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists induce significant weight loss and may reduce cardiovascular and renal events.
- The potential of GLP-1 receptor agonists as an alternative treatment for resistant hypertension is currently unclear.
