Abstract
Incretin-based therapies lead to weight loss in obesity and type 2 diabetes, but some of this loss may include lean body mass.
- Weight loss from incretin therapies is associated with a reduction in lean body mass, raising concerns about muscle health.
- Men with obesity or type 2 diabetes and low testosterone may experience further loss of skeletal muscle mass during weight reduction.
- The impact of combining testosterone therapy and exercise on preserving skeletal muscle mass during incretin-induced weight loss is not yet clear.
