Abstract
Lactobacillus plantarum HL2 and Bifidobacterium longum HB3 showed potential in alleviating symptoms of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) in a rat model.
- Eight lactic acid bacterial strains were tested for their effects on PCOS using a letrozole-induced rat model.
- Diane-35 effectively reduced reproductive disorders in the rats.
- Lactobacillus plantarum HL2 helped protect against ovarian damage and restored levels of luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and testosterone.
- Bifidobacterium longum HB3 improved ovarian conditions and lowered testosterone levels.
- Probiotic treatment increased levels of short-chain fatty acids.
- Lactic acid bacteria improved gut microbiota imbalance caused by letrozole, with certain genera linked to sex hormone levels.
