How lifestyle, genetics, and their combination relate to the risk of psoriatic disease

Updated

Abstract

During an average follow-up of 12.3 years, 1501 participants developed psoriatic disease (PsD).

  • Higher Life's Essential 8 (LE8) scores are associated with a lower risk of developing PsD.
  • Participants with moderate and high LE8 scores had hazard ratios of 0.51 and 0.34, respectively, compared to those with low scores.
  • A linear negative association exists between continuous LE8 score and PsD risk, with no evidence of a nonlinear relationship.
  • Genetic susceptibility to PsD does not influence the association between LE8 scores and PsD risk.
  • Women showed a stronger beneficial association between higher LE8 scores and reduced PsD risk.
