Abstract

68 samples from 34 patients with Crohn's disease showed improved microbial health in the ileal mucosa and mesentery after ileocecal resection.

  • Ileocecal resection is associated with positive changes in the microbial composition of the ileal mucosa and mesentery in patients with Crohn's disease.
  • Spatial alterations in microbiota and metabolites were detected before and after surgery.
  • Differentially expressed metabolites in the ileal mucosa and mesentery were analyzed for their biological significance.
  • The findings suggest a multi-omics approach may enhance understanding of treatment mechanisms for Crohn's disease.
