Heart's blood pressure control is strongest at night when blood pressure is lowest in healthy young adults, possibly due to daily body rhythms

Abstract

Systolic blood pressure exhibited a significant trough at ~1:40 am.

  • The nocturnal peak of cardiac effectiveness index occurred at ~1 am.
  • Both the trough in systolic blood pressure and the peak in effectiveness index were statistically significant (p = 0.02).
  • Baroreflex sensitivity showed no significant variation throughout the circadian cycle.
  • Vascular endothelial function peaked significantly at ~10 am.
  • The alignment between BEI and systolic BP suggests a possible relationship that warrants further investigation.
